Set to arrive in time for trick-or-treaters, this pair of adidas Forum 84 Low is inspired by a horror story from the 1800s. For the second year in a row, adidas will launch a pair of Forum 84 Lows dedicated to Halloween and continue a tradition of the brand celebrating All Hallows Eve. As the name of the sneaker suggests, the Forum 84 Low was created in 1984 and christened after the iconic arena in Los Angeles by famed designer Jacques Chassaing. While technology has evolved and performance-enhancing footwear has improved, the Forum 84 Low has remained culturally relevant by being the favorite everyday wearers of many a sneakerhead and providing retro aesthetics with superb comfort, a winning combination.
The Brand With Three Stripes has celebrated the silhouette's 40th Anniversary with many iterations that have appealed to a broad market across the spectrums. These releases include starring as the model of a three-shoe collection with the esteemed brand Packer and being adapted and modified by Jerry Lorenzo for his Fear of God Collection. adidas has kept putting the trainer front and center this year. For this offering, we see the inspiration of Mary Shelley's infamous horror tale Frankenstein. First published in 1818, the story continues to captivate two centuries later.
Presented here in shades of green, brown, and cream, the adidas Forum 84 Low Halloween's upper consists of leather underlays and canvas overlays. Canvas is also used for the ankle strap, which generally would be double-layered and attached by velcro or stitching. However, this strap comprises one layer that gives the impression of being bolted on either side. A highlight of the design is the stitching visible at multiple points across the shoe, giving the appearance of a monster sewn together and experimented on, all sitting upon a yellowed rubber sole.
The adidas Forum 84 Low Halloween is set to release in October 2024, through adidas and select retailers in-store and online. Coming in men's sizing, retail is TBD.
