Asics has consistently distinguished itself in the sneaker market through thoughtfully themed releases, often imbuing its footwear with narratives that transcend mere aesthetics. Joining recent innovative offerings from Asics like the Gel-Terrain equipped with Gore-Tex, the Pre-Worn GT-2160 pack, and Kiko Kostadinov's reinterpretation of the Gel-Quantum Kinetic, the Japanese brand is giving three of its silhouettes an “imperfect” makeover that serves as a poignant reminder of the inherent beauty found in imperfection.
The Asics Imperfection Pack brings together three of the brand's revered silhouettes: the 1090v2, Gel-Kayano 14, and GT-2160, each unified by a harmonious cream and tan color scheme accented with deliberate black detailing. Showcasing cracked leather panels on the upper that symbolize the grace of time's passage, this detail comes inspired by the natural aging of clay pots. Distinct from their standard presentations, these iterations forgo the customary mesh base in favor of a textile finish, offering a tactile representation of beauty in imperfection. The GT-2160 model features a stark black base, strikingly contrasting the lighter hues of the 1090v2 and Gel-Kayano 14, which opt for a cream-colored foundation. Completing the aesthetic, each sneaker incorporates traditional Asics branding elements, such as a tonal foam midsole and rubber outsole, which underscore the collection's theme.
The Asics Imperfection Pack will be released on March 22, 2024, through Asics and select retailers online and in-store. As of this writing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
