New Balance’s Protection Pack motif expanded from the 2002R to the 1906R in 2022, launching the 1906D silhouette variant in multiple colorways since then. While the last time this version of the model was visited was last summer, atmos Tokyo is tackling the fan-favorite silhouette with the upcoming Deep Sea color scheme.
Retaining the same “worn relic” design inspiration for its paneling, we see varying hues of navy and blue that mimic the deep, dark blues found as you descend toward the bottom of the ocean floor. A deep navy blue mesh sits on the base layer, hosting jagged-edge suede panels in varying blue shades across the upper. Stark black accents highlight the vamp, lace set, tongue panel, upper eyestay, TPU heel counter, and the leather patch featuring 1906D branding.
Other branding details include the N logo on the midfoot, which has a white-and-black finish accentuated by the nylon lace loops integrated into the logo, and the NB Running logo located along the spine of the tongue. These early looks don’t showcase the insole, though we may see a custom graphic and atmos Tokyo co-branding. Finishing the look is the blacked-out midsole paired with a tonal outsole.
The atmos Tokyo x New Balance 1906D Deep Sea will release before the end of December 2024 through atmos Tokyo online and in-store. As of this writing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
