New Balance rode the hype train provided by the revival of the New Balance 550 and the popularity of its collaborative efforts throughout 2022. This has been continuing into 2023 as we've seen the Boston-based brand work with the likes of CDG, JJJJound, Joe Freshgoods, and plenty more. However, NB is looking to Auralee once again to tap one of the brand's most popular silhouettes, the 1906R. Though this was revealed prior to other collaborations on the docket for the two, including the Warped Runner, the pair is about to hit shelves before the years end.
First seen on the feet of models strutting down the runway, two colorways of Auralee's 1906R are on the horizon - “Bone” and “Flint Stone.” General construction for the model remains the same, however, short-haired suede takes over the triangular-shaped overlays while a wide mesh makes up the base layer. For each respective colorway, the shades that appear throughout don’t venture too far from one another and give the sneaker an elevated look while also providing some variation to the design. New Balance branding details also remain unchanged on the Flint Stone pair with the midfoot and vamp hosting “N” logos while the tongue and heel feature “NB” text. Near the TPU heel counter sits 1906R branding in a retro font that is stamped atop the suede overlay. On the “Bone” rendition, the lateral “N” logo does receive a small redesign while the lace set also comes with changes to the typical cotton. Rounding out the look is the aged midsole in tonal shades paired with a black, “pre-worn” rubber outsole.
