First appearing in the AURALEE Spring/Summer 2022 lookbook, their collaboration with New Balance’s 2002R silhouette marks the next step in the Boston-based footwear brand's and Japanese-founded fashion house's catalogue, previously working on the NB 550 and RC30 silhouettes. Combing the minimalist aesthetic the fashion house is famous for as well as NB’s functional designs, two colorways are set to launch of the AURALEE x New Balance 2002R.
Coming in a cream-based and yellow-based design, both will feature a breathable mesh underlay and a combo of leather and suede throughout the overlays. On the cream pair, the top half of the upper partakes in white tones across the leather panels with matching laces and branding details while the lower half on the heel comes in earth tone shades of khaki and brown suede. Typical NB logos like the “N” branding or 2002R text on the heel remain with AURALEE refraining from making an appearance on the model. For the yellow pair, suede replaces the leather construction, all of which come in various yellow tones. Beige branding details on the midfoot and collar as well as a similarly shaded mesh combine to create a clean earthy-like combination of hues. Underfoot, both pairs feature the 860v2 cushioning system in a tan and green combo while the outsole below comes in black and yellow.
The AURALEE x New Balance 2002R Pack is slated to release on September 9th, 2022 through select retailers while an NB release is expected in the near future. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $155. For more updates on this fusion of Japanese and American design, keep it locked to our Twitter and the Sole Retriever mobile app.
