With Kevin Durant's illustrious career, his partnership with Nike has always been a focal point for sneakerheads and ball players. Known for consistently delivering innovative designs and pushing the boundaries, the KD series is a testament to this partnership's prowess. It will continue for the foreseeable future as the two agreed on a lifetime deal earlier in the year. Currently on the KD 16, the model has garnered attention with its soon-to-launch Aunt Pearl rendition, which will accompany a KD 3 under the same theme. But before those awaited releases, Nike unexpectedly released a collaborative rendition with Boardroom, Durant's own media outlet. This isn’t the first time a Nike signature athlete collaborated with their own brand, as the LeBron 20 came out in a collaborative colorway with LeBron’s media company Uninterrupted.
The Boardroom x Nike KD 16 is a fusion of sophistication and performance. The sneaker is draped primarily in deep black shades, offering a sleek appearance. A nubuck overlay gracefully traces the mudguard, extending to the heel, complemented by a dark obsidian TPU panel stretching across the midfoot. The mesh base, however, brings a touch of wild flair with its subtle zebra pattern, blending black and dark grey. On the branding front, the right shoe boasts the familiar KD emblem on its tongue, while the left introduces the 35V logo, representing Durant's 35 Ventures, the umbrella organization behind the Boardroom. Delving deeper into the shoe, the insole showcases the Boardroom branding, replacing the typical KD insignia. Finally, a creamy coconut milk midsole contrasts beautifully with the dark obsidian rubber outsole, completing the look.
The Boardroom x Nike KD 16 was released on October 20, 2023, through Nike and will subsequently drop in November via select retailers both online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $160.
