Baltimore-based skate shop Carpet Company, known for its playful and irreverent approach to streetwear and skate culture, has previously teamed up with Nike SB for an iconic SB Dunk Low collaboration. However, brothers Ayman and Osama Abdeldayem, who founded the label, are gearing up for their first partnership with Vans Skateboarding, bringing their distinctive style to a broader audience. For their first project with Vans, Carpet Company will help revive the Skate Cab 4 model, worn by Vans legend Steve Caballero, and two colorways of the Skate Half Cab.
The Vans Skateboarding x Carpet Company collection offers two versions of the Skate Half Cab and one reimagined Skate Cab 4 style. The sneakers are crafted with high-quality materials, including faux croc skin, which Carpet Company humorously called "dragon leather." This textured overlay adds a premium feel to the shoes, which are built on a premium leather base.
The Skate Cab 4 model prominently showcases Steve Caballero's dragon logo, a tribute to his influence in skateboarding. The collection also features custom details such as Arabic text that reads Carpet Company sucks, the Carpet Company C Star logo in both embroidered and printed forms, a unique woven Half Cab label, and a special edition box. Complementing the footwear are apparel pieces that include two T-shirts and matching socks, each adorned with the dragon logo and Carpet Company's signature branding.
The Carpet Company x Vans Collection will release on July 25, 2024, through Carpet Company online and in-store. The Black Marshmallow colorway of the Skate Half Cab will also be available via Vans and select retailers, leaving the Violet Marshmallow and Skate Cab 4 exclusive to Carpet Company.
