Amsterdam-based designer Daniëlle Cathari, renowned for her innovative deconstruction of traditional fashion paradigms, has embarked on a fresh collaboration with New Balance. Cathari's approach to fashion, which revolves around "mindfully coloring outside the lines," finds a new canvas in the New Balance 991v2, an update to the classic 991 silhouette.
Teased on Cathari’s Instagram, the Matcha tastefully embodies Cathari's signature aesthetic. The sneaker is adorned in premium pigskin suede overlays, bathed in a serene matcha hue, juxtaposed against a chocolate brown mesh base. Accents of greyish-silver on the toe box overlay and the "N" logo on the midfoot add depth to the design. While Cathari's name, elegantly scripted on the tongue tag beneath the New Balance logo, signifies this unique collaboration. Retaining the 991v2's beloved features, including the v2 branding and the dual ABZORB and FuelCell-cushioned sole unit, this edition marries New Balance's performance legacy with Cathari's disruptive design ethos. Rounding out the design are the white and cream midsole and black outsole.
The Daniëlle Cathari x New Balance 991v2 Matcha will release on February 9, 2024, exclusively through Kith online and in-store. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $250.
