When Devin Booker began previewing his first signature sneaker with Nike, the Nike Book 1, he was spotted in many player-exclusive colorways. Alongside pairs for Devin, his model has been given makeovers for Nike’s EYBL and the WNBA All-Star Game, but it’s now appearing in collegiate themes, as seen here with a Michigan State colorway.
Even though Devin Booker attended the University of Kentucky, the Michigan State connection comes from his birthplace and upbringing in Michigan. Booker gifted players from Michigan State with pairs of the sneaker, and later that evening, he took the floor during an NBA preseason game with the colorway on his feet. The sneaker has a canvas twill material on the tongue and midfoot, retaining the workwear-inspired construction. Nubuck panels appear on the mudguard, toebox, eyestays, collar, and heel overlay, all in Michigan State’s green hue.
Book branding is still present along the woven tongue tag and nods to his birth year, 1996, placed on the book spine-inspired heel tab. Accenting the green hues are hits of white along the tumbled leather Swoosh, which is outlined in navy, and the mini white embroidered Swoosh near the lateral toe. Michigan State’s mascot, Sparty, appears via embroidery on the heel—a white midsole rounds out the design with a green and navy rubber outsole.
Unfortunately, the public won’t be able to cop the Nike Book 1 Michigan State PE. However, we’re expecting plenty of new renditions of the Book 1, including the new Sunrise, Halloween, and Forrest Gump colorways.
