Christmas Day, and the season as a whole, has historically been a pivotal moment for Nike Basketball as signature athletes bring forth special editions of their models for sneakerheads to drool over. While the golden age of Nike Basketball’s Christmas collections is long gone, Devin Booker has helped inject some energy into the holiday with his Nightmare Before Christmas-themed Book 1s that dropped last week. However, before the Phoneix Suns' matchup against the Denver Nuggets, Booker took to his Instagram to share images of another iteration of The Nightmare Before Christmas Book 1s inspired by the character Oogie Boogie.
Alongside his debut of the pair on his social media, Booker did end up lacing the pair for warm-ups, switching to the upcoming Book 1 Sedona during the actual game. For this Oogie Boogie-inspired PE, the sneaker retains the same cracked leather appearance as the Nightmare Before Christmas colorway and the Halloween rendition of the Book 1, opting for a lime green finish to pay homage to the appearance of the burlap sack villain when he is viewed under blacklight. Again staying in line with the other pairs in this collection, the Swoosh takes on a “DIY” stitched construction that mimics the look of characters from Tim Burton's iconic film.
Other details remain, like the book-spine-inspired heel tab, “Chapter One” text written in a spooky font on the heel tab's spine, and extra stitching details along the Book-branded tongue tag. Underfoot, the model has a lime green midsole and a clear outsole.
Unfortunately for fans of The Nightmare Before Christmas and Devin Booker, this pair will remain an exclusive color for Booker. However, there are plenty of pairs of Book 1s that will be hitting shelves in 2025, including Forrest Gump, ‘95 All-Star, and many more.
