Devin Bookers Wears a Nike Cortez-Inspired Nike Book 1 Phoenix Suns PE

Although Devin Booker’s Nike Book 1 had a bit of a rocky rollout throughout the second half of 2023 and early parts of 2024, the model has solidified itself as an integral part of Nike Basketball’s lineup. Multiple makeovers inspired by archival Nike models, like the upcoming Nike Cortez Forrest Gump-inspired pair and the Nike ACG Mowabb Twine-inspired rendition, help pay homage to the sneakers that speak to Booker and his love for all things vintage. Over the weekend, Booker debuted another archival-inspired pair with a Phoneix Suns colorway of his Cortez-like Nike Book 1.

Featuring the same material makeover seen on the upcoming Forrest Gump colorway, the pair sports an all-leather upper with details that call back to the Cortez. A serrated leather panel appears on the vamp and eyelets, a clear nod to the retro Nike Cortez, while the model’s heel tab and tongue tag also take over the usual Book branding details. Aside from these changes and adding a stripe of color on the sole unit, the rest of the sneaker remains standard.

White coats most of the upper, including the toebox, mudguard, tongue, vamp, midfoot, and collar, while the Suns’ vibrant purple hue marks select details like the Swoosh, tongue tag, and heel tab. Underfoot, the Zoom Air-laden rubber midsole comes in white, with the Cortez-inspired stripe in an orange finish.

Fans of this Nike Book 1 will be disappointed to learn that this will remain exclusive to Booker. However, the aforementioned Book 1 Forrest Gump, is expected to launch on January 24, 2025, so be on the lookout.
