Although LeBron James is the closest thing the NBA and sportswear world has seen since Michael Jordan, his line of Nike LeBron products had never officially been endorsed by collegiate programs until 2022. FAMU, the HBCU located in Tallahassee, Florida, is the first university to become affiliated with LeBron’s lineup of products from The Swoosh and so far has received a handful of PEs and even a co-branded FAMU x Nike LeBron 7 “Black” set to drop in the coming weeks. Following up on this colorway, another LeBron 7 has just appeared in a tonal “Gorge Green” colorway.
Covered in suede and Flywire across its upper, the FAMU Rattlers shade of green covers the majority of the panels while accenting orange and white hits pop throughout. Premium green suede wraps around the toebox, midfoot, and eyestays while panels of Flywire help contain one's foot when worn, the latter of which comes in an orange shade. Along the lateral side, you’ll find a white Nike Swoosh with orange trim and green splatter paint details that wraps back to the heel while the medial side hosts a smaller fully orange Swoosh. Details nodding to FAMU are present on the tongue with the Rattlers’ name spelled out and via the medial side of the heel which hosts the rattlesnake mascot used by the HBCU. Underfoot sits a full-length visible Air unit with orange hits on the inside and white platter paint details paired with a green rubber outsole.
The FAMU x Nike LeBron 7 Gorge Green originally released January 7 through select retailers and the Nike SNKRS release date is June 16, 2023. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $200.
