Continuing to strive for success, Fear Of God and adidas present the next sneaker in their much-anticipated collaboration, the Los Angeles Hiker. After a muted reception to previous offerings, this time, Jerry Lorenzo uses a heritage silhouette from the adidas back catalog to inspire the design while providing a balance between style and functionality.
While the Fear of God input brings a refined edge to The Brand With The Three Stripes, the high expectations around the collaboration, given both brands' reputations, have not resulted in the clamor and hype that often follows high-profile sneaker drops. Despite adidas' recent boom in the market, the collaboration so far hasn't captured the same cultural momentum as others, such as partnerships with Wales Bonner and Kith. The limited-release strategy for the first offerings may have stifled its potential to make a more significant impact. While exclusivity can create hype within niche communities, it can also prevent the partnership from reaching a wider audience. While some of those pieces' high-end positioning and scarcity may have resonated well with sneakerheads and fashionistas, it hasn't ignited the mainstream conversation like both brands would have hoped, even with their powerful influence.
There is hope with the latest sneaker, the Fear of God Athletics x adidas Los Angeles Hiker. Launching alongside a Sesame palette, this iteration sees the entire shoe covered in Carbon tones from heel to toe. A premium washed suede is utilized for the upper construction, which carries Three Stripes branding on the sides and Trefoil branding on the back heel, giving off a classy but subtle look that would blend seamlessly into any fit. There is a fabric strap around the heel for support, and the lace set is complete with pressure toggles to ensure a secure fit. The outdoor-inspired rubber sole unit has a cushioned midsole for increased comfort.
The Fear Of God Athletics x adidas Los Angeles Hiker Carbon is set to release on October 3, 2024, through Fear Of God, adidas, and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $220. Download the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest releases, raffles, news, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
