Minimalistic fashion has been making huge waves in the industry as in-your-face logos and designs are being passed on in favor of simple, yet premium pieces. Just look at JJJJound for a prime example. The Montreal-based label founded by Justin Saunders has made a name for itself through collaborations with the likes of New Era, Puma, and most famously, New Balance. Continuing their collaborative efforts, JJJJound is now getting an opportunity to work on yet another 99X silhouette, this time on the New Balance 991.
Like most JJJJound designs, neutral shades and minimal changes to the standard 991 make their way to this premium collaboration. Across the upper, pigskin suede takes over the mudguard, quarter panel, eyestays, and heel overlay, all of which take on a grey tone hue. Earth tones make their way to the accenting overlays along the toebox and collar, sitting atop the grey base layer made of mesh. For branding details, typical NB logos and text, like the midfoot “N” logo and tongue tag’s “New Balance 991” text are here to stay while the heel overlay features “JJJJound” text in an accenting white hue. Rounding out the design is the two-tone foam midsole, coming in white and cream, paired with a black rubber outsole.
The JJJJound x New Balance 991 Grey is set to release on February 9th, 2023 through JJJJound while New Balance and select retailers online and in-store will release pairs on the 17th. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is $250.
