While many sneaker brands introduced their own foam-based mules in 2021 and 2022, Jordan Brand hopped on this trend a bit late. Taking a more geometric approach than the organic style other labels have used, the Jordan Hex Slide and Hex Mule have quietly begun to hit shelves. Following up on the low-key Billie Eilish collab, the Jordan Hex Mule has emerged in an eye-catching “University Red.”
Like other Hex Mules, this “University Red” rendition comes in a monochromatic treatment to make a bold statement. This mule utilizes Biofoam for its material makeup, which is constructed with biodegradable materials like sugarcane. The geometric-inspired upper, squared-off toecap, and heel create a unique, futuristic look. Protrusions on the midfoot add visual interest, with the lateral side hosting minor Jumpman branding. The only other hit of Jordan branding comes on the footbed, while perforations on the medial side provide breathability. Rounding out the design is a herringbone traction pattern on the foam outsole.
The women's Jordan Hex Mule University Red will be released May 9 through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. The slides will retail for $65.
