The standout design caught the attention of fans and sneaker enthusiasts alike, drawing comparisons to the custom Nike Kyrie Infinity designed by former Nike footwear designer Ben Kirschner for Irving's 2023 NBA All-Star Game appearance during Kyrie's sneaker free agency.
The Anta KAI 1 Chief Hélà is a tribute to Kyrie Irving’s Native American heritage and his Lakota name, Hélà. The design elements reflect this cultural homage beautifully. Tan leather-dressed tassels mimic the traditional leather hide moccasins that indigenous tribes across North America have worn for hundreds of years. These tassels drape elegantly over the predominantly brown synthetic upper, creating a visually striking and culturally significant look.

The color scheme of the KAI 1 Chief Hélà continues with the same brown from the upper seamlessly transitioning into a two-tone rubber midsole that features a lighter brown that extends down through the sneaker's outsole. This cohesive color palette not only enhances the sneaker’s aesthetic appeal but also ensures durability and performance on the court. Completing the design is Kyrie's signature ANTA logo, meticulously stitched into the sneaker's fabric tongue, adding a personal touch to this already distinctive footwear.

The ANTA KAI 1 Chief Hélà will release October 12, 2024, through ANTA and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men's sizing, the retail price has yet to be announced, but standard KAI 1's retail for $125, so expect a small increase with the added details here.
