Fashion trends lean heavily towards utilitarian and versatile designs, with slip-ons and laceless footwear gaining popularity. New Balance has tapped into this trend with its new model, the 1906L Loafer, a sneaker-loafer hybrid of its highly acclaimed 1906R model. Following the reveal of other colorways like Brown Navy, Metallic Silver, and Raincloud, an all-black leather version will join the lineup.
Like Junya Watanabe’s take on the model, the New Balance 1906L Loafer Black brings a luxurious feel to the functional design of the 1906R. The sneaker-loafer hybrid features an all-leather construction for its base and overlays, providing a premium aesthetic. TPU is used on the heel counter for added support.
The triangular-shaped overlays remain adorning the toe and midfoot, while the collar and forefoot are transformed into a loafer with a laceless design. Branding is subtly placed on the lateral heel and toebox, showcasing the 1906L and N logos. Underfoot, a black foam midsole from the 860v2 provides cushioning, and a black rubber outsole for traction.
The New Balance 1906L Loafer Black will release in 2024 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price has not yet been announced.
