The 1906R has reigned supreme for New Balance throughout 2024. Multiple top-tier collaborators have used the sneaker as a canvas for storytelling, from Salehe Bembury to Action Bronson and many more. With the sneaker's success, New Balance has introduced multiple variants, like the new 1906L Loafer, the techy 1906A, and the “utility” variant dubbed the 1906U, to keep the lineup feeling fresh. Adding to this will be the 1906M, a military-inspired version first previewed in Silver and Triple White colorways. New Balance has crafted a Metallic Pink variant alongside these classic color palettes.
While the general shape of the 1906R model remains, the upper overlays have been redesigned using the same diamond-pattern Fantomfit overlays found on the military-issued New Balance 950v2. This large panel wrapping the entire profile features a metallic pink finish, contrasting the grey knit base below. Grey suede details take over the vamp and eyestays, while the TPU heel counter and leather mudguard continue the metallic pink finish. Like other 1906 variants, the N logo on the midfoot comes as part of the Nlock system, which sees lace loops connected to the design for a more secure fit on the midfoot. Finishing the model's design is the tried-and-true foam midsole and rubber outsole seen on all 1906R variants, sourced from the 860v2.
The New Balance 1906M Metallic Pink has no confirmed release date, but considering we’re seeing early pairs beginning to pop up, it’s likely the pair won’t be released until 2025. As of now, sizing and pricing information has not been shared.
