A new wave of success has recently found New Balance, with the 100-plus-year-old brand no longer being looked at as just a “dad shoe” maker. Model’s like the newly revived New Balance 1906R have infused heritage NB designs with current trends and consistently receive new makeovers. Aside from the upcoming Aime Leon Dore collaboration, the model also gets a clean “Black Eclipse” colorway.
Covered in its usual mixture of wide-spaced mesh and leather, the silhouette delves into darker tones with a shade of black taking over most of the upper. The classic triangular-shaped overlays around the toe and midfoot remain and still feature geometric patterns in an accenting shade, this time in white. Creamy hues land on the “N” logo, which is part of the N-Lock system that helps secure the black set of laces and makes the model fit even more securely. On the model's rear, a silver TPU heel counter contrasts nicely with the black mesh heel tab and creamy sockliner nearby. Underfoot sits a NERGY-infused ABZORB-cushioned midsole in a cream shade paired with a black rubber outsole.
The New Balance 1906R Black Eclipse will be released via New Balance and select retailers online and in-store in 2023. Releasing in men’s sizing, the pair will retail for $150.
