For New Balance, running silhouettes have played a major role in the brand's history even after they transition into a lifestyle model. Lately, NB has taken the liberty of updating models that had their time in the spotlight over a decade ago by adding a new sole unit (borrowed from the 860v2) to both the New Balance 2002R and more recently through the New Balance 1906R. A slew of colorways have hit the latter of the two and now it has just appeared in an all-over grey & silver color palette.
Per usual, the silhouette comes covered in mesh and leather with a monochromatic grey dressing the mesh underlay. Silver leather overlays around the toe and midfoot come in triangular-shaped panels and come with a second hit of a lighter silver tone in its center. For branding, typical NB details like the “N” and “NB” logos can be found via the midfoot’s Nlock system, hosting two of the eyestays, as well as the tongue tag and heel overlay. Matching the color palette of the upper, the laces come in tonal grey while the sockliner nearby gets a slightly darker grey makeover. Back on the heel, the TPU overlay helps reinforce the structure of the silhouette while the entire design is rounded out by a white foam midsole paired with a black rubber outsole.
The New Balance 1906R Grey Silver is set to release in 2023 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is TBD.
