In 2024, New Balance is set to release the New Balance 1906U, a new iteration in the evolving story of the 1906R series. The original 1906R silhouette, a runner from the early 2010s, has been a resounding success, resonating well with the current trend of mesh-based runners dominating fashion and sneaker culture. Building on this momentum, New Balance has experimented with variations like the 1906D, which leaned into the aesthetic of the popular Protection Pack from the 2002R model. The 1906U continues this trend, adding new elements while retaining the core design ethos of its predecessors.
One of the launch colorways for the New Balance 1906U will be a Cream Multi-Color, which maintains the general shape and silhouette of the 1906R but introduces new paneling and enhanced branding details. This model features a multi-textured upper, with multiple leather panels adorning the toe area, layered over a netted base. Most of the shoe is in a creamy hue, complemented by blue accents that outline the midfoot's "N" logo and the TPU heel counter.
Additional updates include extra paneling on the midfoot, distinctive "Running" branding on the tongue, and incorporating ripstop and other leather elements. The sole unit mirrors that of the revived 1906R, borrowed from the New Balance 860v2. It features a color combination of cream, pink, and green, paired with a black rubber outsole for a balanced and stylish finish.
The New Balance 1906U Cream Multi-Color will release in 2024 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. The retail price has yet to be announced.
