Last summer, New Balance released what they dubbed the “Refined Future” Pack, mainly referred to as the “Protection Pack” by many. This collection of three New Balance 2002Rs appeared as a “wearable relic,” featuring torn materials across the upper. One of the best GR releases from last year is getting a makeover with multiple new colors of the New Balance 2002R “Protection Pack” recently surfacing.
Coming in the same construction as the previous release, these new colorways of the 2002R “Protection Pack” come in brighter tones compared to last year's releases. The two colorways revealed so far appear in a mix of green/navy and a two-tone blue. Overlays of torn suede work around the entire upper, sitting above the mesh base. Typical New Balance branding comes in the form of an N on the midfoot in mesh with over stitching surrounding, as well as the 2002R and NB logo on the collar and heel tab respectively. Rounding out the look is a two-tone Nergy cushioned midsole and rubber outsole.
The upcoming New Balance 2002R Protection Pack is set to release in 2022 through New Balance and select NB retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price hasn’t been announced, but expect a similar price tag to last year's release for $150.
