New Balance has steadily risen in the “hype” sneaker market, as pairs from its archives have helped generate massive buzz for the Boston-based label. One of their more popular silhouettes, the 1906R, can thank the Protection Pack series (officially dubbed the Refined Future Pack) that first hit shelves in 2020 on the 2002R for its high demand. Since this initial release of the Protection Pack, we’ve seen New Balance deliver an array of colorways that feature the distressed, worn-in look designer Yue Wu described as a “wearable relic.” For its latest rendition of the 1906D Protection Pack, an ultra-clean “Triple White” color scheme is applied.
As part of the Protection Pack, the sneaker contains jagged-edged panels, with this rendition swapping out the usual suede for leather overlays. Below this sits breathable mesh coming in a white shade similar to the rest. Along the midfoot, the “N” logo contains an NLOCK system — part of the lacing setup — that helps further secure your foot. Further branding details, found atop the tongue, lateral heel, and heel tab, come in silver. Rounding out the sneaker is an 860v2 midsole in a creamy finish paired with a tan outsole.
The New Balance 1906D Protection Pack Triple White will release August 2, 2023 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Offered in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $170.
