The Nicole McLaughlin x Vans Slip-On RS Pack Releases February 2025

One of social media’s premier DIY designers, Nicole McLaughlin, has leveraged her online following and viral videos into a full-time design career that includes work within the footwear industry. While she previously worked in the field for Reebok, she has since collaborated with various partners, including Vans. Following up on the duo’s gardening tote-inspired Slip-On pack in 2023, Nicole is converting the Slip-On into a rucksack.

“It’s key to have elements of functionality, mixed with a sense of conceptual art and style,” says Nicole McLaughlin. “Creating pieces that can be multi-purpose, but also fun has always been my goal. I was inspired by vintage hiking packs from the ‘70s and the aesthetic of outdoor gear from that era for the collection.” She continued, “I love DIY culture and designs people can interact with and further customize themselves. I encourage people to make the pieces their own and I’m excited to see how they will be personalized!”

McLaughlin does just that as her two colorways of the Vans Slip-On RS come with a fully functional rucksack attached to the forefoot that can store some hiking essentials. Adjustable nylon webbing runs along the sneaker profile, attached near the forefoot rucksack that features Nicole McLaughlin branding details alongside Vans. Both canvas-covered sneakers take on a tonal finish across their design, one in a cream and white mix and the other in a grey and black. Finishing the sneaker is a lugged rubber outsole perfect for outdoor adventures.

Alongside the sneakers in the collection, Vans and Nicole have created a rucksack that doubles as a climbing chalk bag. You can attach the bag to your belt for climbing or hiking. The same design concept is also applied to the socks, which feature an added pocket and rucksack-inspired leather patches.

The Nicole McLaughlin x Vans Slip-On RS Pack will release on February 26, 2025, through Vans and Nicole’s website. A global release via select retailers will take place on February 27. However, only the Black colorway will launch at retailers as the Grey pair is exclusive to Vans and Nicole McLaughlin’s site.
