Nike's Air Max 97 is certainly no stranger when it comes to the controversial pre-aged sneaker trend. Earlier this season, we checked out the "Oxidized" which took the footwear fad to an entirely new direction, and now, we're getting our very first look at the Nike Air Max 97 "Worn Bone." While not many are fans of the pre-worn look, this is a great example of how to do it correctly.
While this Air Max 97 might look like just another classic "Triple White" release from a distance, upon closer inspection you'll quickly find that there is way more than meets the eye. Taking on Christian Tresser's water ripple-inspired model, it boasts a multi-material construction which combines light bone mesh, leather, and suede into a layered design. While Nike could've just left it there and called it a day, they've applied an aged treatment to it, giving it a seriously vintage vibe. Black markings can be found throughout the mudguard, and while these are quite subtle, they very effectively portray the retro look that Nike was going for.
The Nike Air Max 97 Worn Bone W is set to release sometime in Summer 2023 exclusively in women's sizes. Expected to drop at Nike, the SNKRS app, and select online and in-store retailers, they will retail for $175 each.
