Outside of Michael Jordan, there’s no other athlete from the 90s that had more fanfare for their footwear line than Penny Hardaway. Sure others like Scottie Pippen and Charles Barkley can be compared, but when Penny hit the scene in 1995, that all changed. Ushering in a new era, Penny not only catapulted his own signature line into sneaker history but also became the face of one of the most popular basketball silhouettes of all-time, the Nike Air Foamposite One.
Over the past 20+ years, Nike has dropped six signature sneakers for Penny Hardaway. He is also linked to the aforementioned Foamposite One as well as other classic 90s b-ball silhouettes such as the Air Flight One, Air Go LWP and Air Way Up. Now in 2022, Hardaway’s first-ever signature sneaker, the Nike Air Max Penny 1 is set for a comeback.
Kicking things off for 2022 Penny 1 retro is the original “Orlando” edition. One of the most coveted colorways, they come in an Orlando Magic-themed black, varsity royal and white. Sporting a black-based nubuck upper with white and royal blue accents. The classic jewel Swoosh, embroidered “1 Cent” logo on the back heels and visible Max Air cushioning in the heel keep these Penny’s as close to the OG’s as possible.
The Nike Air Max Penny 1 Orlando is set to release in August 2022. It will launch at Nike as well as select retailers both in-store and online. They will be available in men's and GS sizing.
