Every NBA All-Star Weekend, sneaker brands across the footwear industry gear up for special releases to commemorate the star-studded event. In past years, we’ve seen Yeezy make waves with the surprise release of the adidas Yeezy QNTM or Nike’s explosive “Galaxy” Pack from the early 2010s. For the 2023 All-Star event (which takes place in Salt Lake City, Utah), we’ve seen a few models from The Swoosh planned for a release like the Zoom Flight 95 and Air More Uptempo in a clean "Black Football Grey" makeup, though there is more on the way. Images have just emerged of yet another release intended for All-Star Weekend, this time with the Nike Air Penny 2.
Just like the already revealed releases, this Air Penny 2 joins in on the "Black Football Grey" party through its patent and smooth leather upper and exaggerated foam midsole. Wavy patent leather panels in black sweep across the upper and line the edges of the sole unit, coming lined with white around its own edges. As for the base layer, more black leather comes in a smooth finish with stitching details adding depth to the design. Running up the two-tone white and black tongue is a set of laces that come in this same color combo, stopping just below the Penny Hardaway tongue tag. This same Penny logo is featured on the lateral side of the collar while the patent leather heel overlay hosts our final hit of branding on the upper. Rounding out the look is the wavy foam midsole featuring an exposed Air unit in the heel paired with a semi-translucent icy blue rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Max Penny 2 All-Star Black Football Grey is set to release in February 2023 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $200.
