Few sneakers hold as much cultural significance as the Nike Cortez, and one of its most iconic appearances is in the film Forrest Gump, where Tom Hanks’ character famously laces up a pair to embark on his cross-country run. The red, white, and blue colorway quickly became a symbol of the classic silhouette, cementing its place in both sneaker and pop culture history. After a limited run earlier this year featuring premium materials and a higher price point, Nike is set to bring back the Cortez Forrest Gump in October 2024.
Sticking closely to the OG design, this re-release features white leather covering most of the upper, contrasted by vibrant red accents on the midfoot Swoosh, tongue branding, and heel tab. The clean, minimalist look is completed by a white and blue Cortez midsole, a nod to the original design, paired with a white rubber outsole. This iteration dials back on the premium touches seen in the earlier 2024 release, instead focusing on delivering the classic at a more affordable $90 price point for adult unisex sizes. The Cortez Forrest Gump will also be available in GS, PS, and TD sizing for the first time since the earlier release, ensuring that the whole family can enjoy this iconic look.
The Nike Cortez Forrest Gump is set to release on October 8, 2024, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $90 for adults, $65 for GS, $60 for PS, and $50 for TD.
