After being spotted on the feet of celebrities, influencers, and designers, the Nike Dunk had a huge resurgence in hype starting in 2019 and 2020. While at the time releases were much more limited and sparse compared to today, pairs from that period now fetch hefty prices on the aftermarket. One of those early 2020 releases, the Nike Dunk Low Kentucky, is set to make a return very soon (and hopefully with the same higher-quality materials as its first release).
A classic two-tone all-leather build dresses this “Be True To Your School” esque colorway that pays homage to the University of Kentucky, getting a varsity royal across its overlays and white on its underlays. Running up the white mesh tongue is a varsity royal set of flat laces, stopping just below the Nike-branded tongue tag. Working along the profile, the Nike Swoosh also joins in on the varsity royal party, running over the white leather collar to another varsity royal leather overlay that hosts white “Nike” embroidery. Sockliner and insole opt for an all-white look, sans the varsity royal Nike branding atop the foam insert. Rounding out the design is the white Dunk midsole paired with a varsity royal rubber outsole.
The Nike Dunk Low Kentucky is set to return on November 9th and November 16th, 2022 through Exclusive Access on the Nike SNKRS App. Nike will pick select members who entered and lost at least 25 different Nike Dunk releases on the SNKRS app to receive EA. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $110 instead of the original $100 price tag from 2020.
