The NBA’s Brooklyn Nets have been surrounded by controversy in the last few weeks and are constantly in the news thanks to the stars that grace their roster. While Kyrie Irving is clear to play in the league after some questionable social media posts (and had his contract suspended by Nike), Kevin Durant is still catching strays in some form as many look to him as a leader for the franchise in its current state. Looking outside the realm of the NBA, KD is still going strong with his Nike KD line as images have surfaced of his upcoming NYC-inspired Nike KD 15 “NYC Courts.”
Like the various courts throughout the city, the sneaker comes covered in various graffiti details that spread inspirational messages and nod to the city of Brooklyn itself with phrases/words like “Brooklyn,” “Hustle,” “Dedication,” and “Hard Work.” All of this comes in white atop a black base while the base mesh player takes on a black hue with a secondary shade of black creating more intricate patterns throughout. Working up the tongue is a set of bright purple laces, contrasting the orange sockliner and mint green shade that graces the “KD” branding up top. This same color also finds its way onto the Nike Swoosh along the midfoot while more KD branding is visible on the orange nylon heel tab. Rounding out the design is the black Zoom Air-cushioned midsole with more inspirational quotes and a mint green grippy rubber outsole.
The Nike KD 15 NY Courts is set to release on December 9th, 2022 through Nike and select Nike Basketball retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $150.
