Nike’s roster of talent when it comes to their Basketball division is unrivaled across the industry as the NBA's top talent is secured and has been for decades now. Even with a changing of the guard underway as newcomers like Ja Morant are stepping up to the plate and Kyrie Irving no longer having a relationship with the brand, one star has remained constant for well over a decade - Kevin Durant. Currently, on the 15th iteration of his Nike KD series, 2023 will bring with it his latest sneaker (aptly dubbed the Nike KD 16) which will launch in a “Vivid Orange” colorway.
After being unveiled by Kevin Durant via his official Instagram account, we now have our first look at the Nike KD 16. Three colorways can be seen, while the launch release mentioned above is still MIA. The first pair, "Pathway Royalties," comes in a black-based theme with metallic silver, vivid purple, and bright crimson accents. Next, a red-based pair, seemingly takes inspiration from the Big Apple with its "NY vs. NY" moniker. Rounding things out is a "Deep Royal Vivid Purple" iteration, sporting a blue-based upper with purple and Baltic Blue accents. As far as tech goes, we are still waiting information. However, with this official teaser image, we should expect a rollout from Nike soon.
The Nike KD 16 Vivid Orange is set to release on May 5th, 2023 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. The NY vs. NY pair will follow on August 12th, Pathway Royalties on September 8th, and Deep Royal Vivid Purple later in the Fall. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $150.
