First Look at the Nike KD 18
PublishedKevin Durant and Nike have a long history that dates back to his time on the now-defunct Seattle Supersonics, with The Slim Reaper being the latest NBA athlete to sign a lifetime deal with The Swoosh. Since this announcement in April 2023, which came right after first looks at the KD 16, Durant has also launched his 17th sneaker, the KD 17, and is now debuting the next silhouette — the KD 18.
Taking inspiration from Nike ACG’s archival catalog, specifically the Terra Humara, the KD 18 features the linear cage-like design in the ‘90s silhouette. In addition to KD appreciating the design, the model was “culturally” birthed and gained a cult following in DC, Durant's hometown, making the tie-in even more special. As for its construction, the sneaker features an open-holed mesh base borrowed from the Vomero 5, visible around the toe, midfoot, and tongue, while we see canvas materials on the heel and collar.
A textured TPU and rubber material make up the midfoot overlay, acting as the lace loops containing the lacing setup, while the Swoosh along the collar comes constructed out of TPU. This specific colorway, called New-stalgia, features a lime green base mixture with teal and orange accents. Down below, the midsole contains a forefoot Zoom Air unit, Dot Weld heel Strobel, and Cushlon foam, with the bottom layer of the upper containing Nike Air cushioning at the heel for added comfort.
The Nike KD 18 New-stalgia will release alongside a similar colorway on April 18, 2025, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $160.
