Occurring on a yearly basis, Art Basel in Miami causes a massive influx of celebrities, art aficionados, and fashionistas down around South Beach for a week filled with exclusive releases, exhibits, and conversations surrounding the art scene. When it comes to sneakers, we often see brands release limited pairs of special edition kicks. Prime examples include SoleFly’s AJ 1 High collab from 2018 and the AJ 1 High “Art Basel Pack” that was released exclusively on a yacht during the event. While Nike Basketball did conduct an early release of the Freegum x Nike LeBron 9 at Art Basel in 2011, 2022 will see his latest silhouette, the Nike LeBron 20, in a "Art Basel” colorway this December.
Seen on the feet of LeBron himself during a recent NBA game and posted on his Instagram, the pair switches up the typical mesh upper in favor of an all-nubuck construction and looks oddly similar to the recently spotted “Pink Diamond” colorway. This rendition takes on a university gold shade as does the lace set and tongue while the double-Swoosh detail along the lateral midfoot comes in metallic silver on the bottom and faux leopard print up top on the left pair while the right pair receives a blacked-out Swoosh instead of the silver makeup. As for the rest of the branding details, things remain the same as the heel features LeBron’s crown logo, and his signature lands atop the tongue. Underfoot sits a white foam midsole featuring Cushlon and Zoom Air while the design is completed by a grippy white rubber outsole.
Limited to 200 pairs, the Nike LeBron 20 Art Basel is set to release on December 4th, 2022 exclusively at UNKNWN (Akron and Miami) both in-store and online. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $210.
