It's March, and you know what that means: March Madness! Since 1939, 68 men's and women's teams have competed to be called national champions. In 2023, the University of Connecticut Huskies (men) and the Louisiana State University Tigers (women) took home the honors, respectively. This year, both teams are looking to go back-to-back when the tournament begins on March 19 with the First Four. Most teams have sponsorships with brands like Nike, Jordan Brand, adidas, Reebok, and Under Armour, so players are often laced up in player-exclusive colorways.
Speaking of player exclusives, one school that has been at the forefront of wearing special pairs for decades is the UCONN Huskies. They laced up some Nike LeBron 20s during their championship run in 2023, and now, before UCONN switches to an official Kobe Brand University under the Nike umbrella, they have been seen wearing pairs like the Sabrina 1, Kobe 8 Protro, Freak 5, and, the LeBron 21. For the Nike LeBron 21, UCONN has laced up a few different iterations of King James' latest signature sneaker.
The Nike LeBron 21 UCONN PE has been seen in both Alternate and Away iterations in detail. The Away pair comes in midnight navy, university red, and white, while the Alternate is in black, white, and midnight navy. Each pair features high-quality nubuck uppers adorned with the UCONN Husky dog logo stitched onto the left shoe's tongue. Zoom Air cushioning and solid rubber outsoles finish each pair off.
The Nike LeBron 21 UCONN PE in Away and Alternate iterations will remain exclusive to players/staff on the UCONN Huskies basketball team. Look below for detailed images of this exclusive colorway, and keep it locked to our Twitter and the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest happenings in sneakers, streetwear, and more.
