LaMelo Ball has been the face of Puma basketball since signing with the brand in 2020. Over the last four years, the duo has introduced four signature basketball sneakers as part of the Puma MB line, debuting the Puma MB.04 in September of this year. A very early image of what is purported to be the successor to the MB.04 has appeared online.

Like its predecessor, the silhouette comes in a mid-cut height with an engineered mesh base. Across the variety of colorways showcased in this early photo, we can see that Puma can play around with the pattern applied to the mesh, showcasing a scaly faux reptile skin on one pair, a tie-dye pattern on another, and zebra stripe-esque lines on another. Supporting the upper is a crisscross strap that starts around the vamp, wraps around the tongue, and ends near the collar, possibly held in place via Velcro.

It also appears that the strap will be customized based on the color scheme. Some pairs feature a textured pattern containing LaMelo branding, while another almost looks like an homage to the iconic Aunt Pearl colorway series from the Nike KD line, as angel wings are applied to the strap. This pair also borrows the pink hues and white pearl details from the pair, specifically the KD 4’s version of this color scheme.

The technical aspects of the model aren’t visible in this photo, but we can expect some form of Nitro Foam, as that is Puma’s premier cushioning setup. Other details about the silhouette should emerge in the coming months.

The Puma MB.05 will debut sometime in 2025 through Puma and select retailers online and in-store. As of this writing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
