Vans’ classic silhouettes, including the iconic Old Skool model, have been subject to countless makeovers over the decades. For the sneaker’s latest collaboration, Vans is tapping punkandyo, a brand founded by Vans Skateboarding team rider Etienne Gagne and graphic designer Anthony Asfour, to bring a ‘00s aesthetic to the model.
Things remain simple for punkandyo’s latest Vans project, with this pair opting for a clean white and black color palette instead of the black and volt green seen on the brand’s Sk8-Hi Decon. Black suede hits the toecap, eyestays, and heel overlay, featuring contrast stitching in white along the borders. This white stitching extends onto the Vans jazz strip on the midfoot and the canvas base layer. Custom punkandyo font is used for the Vans text added to the white lace set, while we see the brand’s logo attached via a small tag near the eyelets. Vans and punkandyo also appear together on the heel tab. Underfoot sits a white vulcanized rubber midsole with custom writing on the sidewall and a grippy rubber outsole.
The punkandyo x Vans Skate Old Skool 36 will release on October 25, 2024, exclusively via punkandyo’s website. As of this writing, the retail price has not yet been announced.
