The combination of high fashion and sportswear has become commonplace in the apparel and footwear industries for the last half-decade or so, unofficially kicking off with the iconic Supreme x Louis Vuitton drop in 2017. While LV, Gucci, Chanel, and the old guard of the fashion industry continue to work with labels like Nike and adidas, one of the industry's more experimental avant-garde labels, Rick Owens, has been working with Converse on a series of Chuck Taylor-Esque silhouettes that Owens has taken inspiration from for the brands infamous DRKSHADW model. Now continuing the collaborative efforts between the two, Rick Owens DRKSHDW vibes make their way to the all-new DRKSHDW TURBOWPN.
Seen here in a clean “Black” colorway, the silhouette draws its inspiration from the Converse Weapon which falls under the brand's basketball models, however, its been transformed into a high-fashion sneaker. Premium leather tapes over the various overlays and underlays throughout the silhouette with hits of cream coming in the form of the collar and heel. Branding details come split between the lateral and medial sides with the former of the two featuring a Rick Owens star-like design while the medial side features the iconic Converse star, both of which are visible through cutouts that reveal white leather. Cream laces pop off the black tongue and rest below the co-branded TURBOWPN tongue tag while the entire design of the sneaker is finished by a cream midsole and black outsole.
The Rick Owens DRKSHADW x Converse TURBOWPN Black is set to release on January 10th, 2023 through Nike SNKRS and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $200.
