Taking a trip to the airport, you’ll find plenty of luggage brands, though one that may not catch your eye immediately yet is one of the most expensive in the world is RIMOWA. Since 1898, the brand has produced some of the most durable and iconic luggage pieces with its famous grooved design and is spotted by the side of celebrities and the ultra-wealthy alike. For its first foray into the sneaker world, the German-based company isn’t traveling too far, linking up with adidas on the recently introduced NMD_S1.
Utilizing a Primeknit upper, the sock-like silhouette gets covered in beige and tan tones across the upper with orange accents landing on the lace set, Trefoil logo on the tongue tag, and back on the heel. Transparent TPU is present on the midfoot, making one's choice of sock more conscious than normal, and is also home to a fused plastic Three Stripes logo in a smokey grey finish. Another hit of this smokey grey is found along the toe with a reinforced fused plastic helping the durability of the model. Back on the heel, RIMOWA adds their logo in orange to the nylon pull-tab while the insole nearby features a co-branded RIMOWA and adidas “Made In Germany” sticker. Underfoot, the chunky redesigned NMD midsole features angular TPU plugs that house RIMOWA text on the left pair and adidas on the right. Rounding out the look is the rubber outsole in the same tan shade as the midsole, featuring Trefoil logos as its traction pattern.
The RIMOWA x adidas NMD_S1 MIG is slated to release in November 2022 through adidas, CONFIRMED, and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $250.
