Puma’s Y2K era is one to be studied. The brand was at the forefront of innovation and design, with models like the Mostro being cult classics amongst hardcore sneakerheads and fashion enthusiasts. With the Mostro making a return in 2024, we’ve seen multiple inline drops and collaborations with Aries (who have two more pairs on the way) and A$AP Rocky. Now, Puma has tapped Korean fashion brand San San Gear to design multiple colorways for the archival Mostro.
First teased in early 2024, the three colorways offered, Flat Dark Grey, Glacial Grey, and Whisp of Pink, all feature the same suede construction across the upper. The titular hue hits the base for each pair, while the Formstrip takes on a contrasting suede finish. More suede panels land near the tongue and on the heel, containing San San Gear branding. Nylon straps, which act as the lacing setup, also take on a contrasting shade that blends in with the other contrasting elements. Underfoot, the sole unit of the Mostro retains its spiked finish that wraps up around the toe and heel.
The San San Gear x Puma Mostro Pack will release on September 27, 2024, exclusively through San San Gear online and in-store. As of now, there’s no word of a wider global launch. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at ₩199,000 (approx $150 USD).
