The legacy of Puma's collaborations is diverse and impactful, often partnering with iconic figures in the fashion and streetwear scene. Jeff Staple, known for his pigeon motif and deep-rooted connection to urban culture, is no stranger to this realm. After numerous successful joint ventures, Jeff Staple and Puma join forces again, choosing the timeless Puma Suede as their collaborative canvas, offering sneaker enthusiasts a treat this October.
Delving into the design, the Staple x Puma Suede Dark Chocolate boasts a luxurious chocolate brown suede upper, setting a rich backdrop for its intricate details. Gold and red metallic accents provide vivid contrasts, highlighting select areas of the shoe. The tongue prominently features a metallic gold yin-yang symbol wrapped in an olive branch, which also graces the insole. Puma's signature stripe gets dipped in red with the “Puma Suede” text featuring Staples’ pigeon logo. A powerful tribute to the Cali-based Asian-American newspaper, Gidra, the shoe's lateral heel debosses its name, paying homage to its pivotal role during the civil rights movement. This gesture aligns seamlessly with both Staple and Puma branding. The silhouette is completed with the pigeon logo in shimmering gold at the heel and a classic gum midsole and outsole, cementing its vintage appeal.
The Staple x Puma Suede Dark Chocolate will be available October 19, 2023, through Puma, Staple, and select retailers online and in-store. Offered in men’s sizes, they will retail for $90.
