A community-driven collective that started as a small Facebook group, The Basement has evolved into a significant collaborator in the sneaker world, particularly with New Balance. Known for their thoughtful and culturally relevant designs, The Basement previously worked with New Balance on the 2002R silhouette in multiple colorways. They're back with a fresh take on another popular model, the 1906R.
The Basement x New Balance 1906R Pack introduces two distinct colorways that embody the brand’s understated yet impactful aesthetic. The first pair comes in a Day Chrome edition, while the second opts for a more muted Night Chrome iteration. Both versions showcase a sandwich mesh base, offering breathability and comfort, ideal for everyday wear. The mesh is complemented by leather overlays on the toe, midfoot, and collar, all finished in a reflective silver hue, adding a touch of flair that comes to life under light.
Below the toggle lacing system on the tongue is BSMT branding, which gives a nod to The Basement’s roots. On the heel, a TPU heel counter with a metallic chrome finish provides stability and durability, while an additional pull tab with more BSMT logos adds functional and stylish detail. The look is completed with a tonal foam midsole for cushioned support and a rubber outsole that ensures grip and durability.
The Basement x New Balance 1906R Pack was released on August 22, 2024, via Up There in Australia. A wider release via The Basement will occur on September 22 for the Day Chrome pair, followed by the Night Chrome on September 29. A release via New Balance will take place on October 3. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $180. Download the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest releases, raffles, news, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
