Since rebranding Vault by Vans to Vans OTW, the lifestyle and fashion-oriented side of the company has been launching collab after collab, as well as innovative takes on its classic sneakers. For the latter, we’ve seen Vans redo models like the Half Cab and Authentic silhouettes with Vibram sole units, ready to tackle the trails and great outdoors. Now, adding to the Vibram-laden collection of sneakers, Vans is reworking the Old Skool 36 silhouette with this new tooling setup.
Alongside the new Vibram tooling on the outsole, the sneaker gets an outdoor-ready makeover with new materials and construction all over the upper. Fused TPU reinforcements are attached to the toe and make up the Vans jazz stripe running across the midfoot, while the base layer itself comes constructed with Dyneema. One pair takes on a tonal White Grey color scheme, and the other in a tonal Olive. Lacing is also optimized for the trail with a Fidlock winch, which allows you to remove the magnet and use it as a winch to tighten or loosen the laces. Branding details are redesigned on the upper, as we see OTW on the tongue tag and heel, while the iconic checkerboard pattern Vans is known for is added to the Vibram midsole. Finishing the design is the lugged Vibram rubber outsole.
The Vans OTW Old Skool 36 Trail Vibram Pack will release on November 1, 2024, through Vans OTW online. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $165.
