Air Jordan 7 Shoes

Originally released in 1992, the Air Jordan 7 set to distance itself from Nike Basketball, putting Michael Jordan and his signature sneaker in their own world. Once again designed by Tinker Hatfield, the AJ 7 could be seen on the feet of MJ as he clinched his second consecutive NBA Championship with the Chicago Bulls, as well as leading Team USA to gold at the 1992 Summer Olympics.

In 1992 the Air Jordan 7 made its debut. The sneaker enhances elements from the AJ 5 and AJ 6. It was the lightest Air Jordan, featuring a neoprene inner bootie from the Nike Air Huarache and die-cut ankle support. In addition, the AJ 7 did away with the visible Air unit and Nike Air branding. While “23” is found on the back heels, the Olympic colorway featured the number “9,” representing MJ’s Dream Team uniform.

The Air Jordan 7 was initially released in five colorways: Raptor, Bordeaux, Hare, Olympic, and Cardinal. For the AJ 7 ad campaign, Michael Jordan teamed up with Bugs Bunny, and Hare Jordan was born. It was the start of a long partnership with MJ and Warner Bros, leading up to the cult classic film Space Jam, which was released in 1996. The Air Jordan 7 was also the first model to be branded outside of the Nike Basketball line, kicking things off for the future of setting Jordan and Nike apart.

Since 2002, we have seen the Air Jordan 7 Retro in various OG and new colorways, which we still see today. Collaborators, including Trophy Room, Patta, Bephies Beauty Supply and more, have all been fortunate enough to design their own exclusive AJ 7. Some of them made it to retail, while others did not. Some new colorways have even ranked up there next to the OG’s, such as the Bin23, Miro, and Chambray. Thirty-plus years later, the AJ 7 is still as iconic as ever.

Originally retailing for $125, the Air Jordan 7's retail price has increased through the years and now has a sticker price of $200 for men, $150 for GS, $90 for PS, and $75 for TD. Retail also increases depending on the colorway/release, occasionally up to $275. Find all the Jordan 7's past and present on Sole Retriever today!
