Classic core colorways in New Balance’s Made in USA lineup appear on virtually every single sneaker by the brand that is manufactured here in America. With the reintroduction of the legendary 992 Made in USA, New Balance has prepped multiple core colorways that will be a consistent part of their release calendar for the year. Included in this is a clean Black colorway of the 992.
The silhouette also has emerged in colors like Grey, Nimbus Cloud, Triple Black, and Navy, all of which (sans the Navy pair) were released on New Balance’s website on March 7. Like these other pairs, the Black iteration of the 992 comes with premium pigskin suede construction on its overlays, mesh on its base layer, and leather for its collar and toebox overlays. All of the suede panels are coated in a black finish, while the mesh base follows suit with a dark finish.
Toebox and collar overlays come in silver-grey leather, matching the shade used on the heel tab and tongue overlays. As for branding details, New Balance coats the midfoot N logo in silver with a white outline, giving the New Balance embroidery on the tongue a white makeover. Finishing the sneaker is the white and cream foam midsole and a black rubber outsole.
The New Balance 992 Made in USA Black was released on March 7, 2025, through New Balance online. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $200. Right now, the pair has limited sizes on New Balance’s website, though as a “core” colorway, it will be restocked frequently throughout the year.
