After years in the vault and a reintroduction, thanks to long-time partner Joe Freshgoods, the New Balance 992 is finally back on the market. Originally released back in 2006 as a celebration of NB’s 100th anniversary, the sneaker has become a fan-favorite for die-hard Made in USA fans and was once the sneaker of choice for the legendary Steve Jobs. Outside of upcoming collaborations with Kith and Action Bronson, New Balance has prepped some traditional GR colorways, starting with this Nimbus Cloud rendition.
Like other Made in USA sneakers, the 992 features a premium construction with pigskin suede, smooth leather, and breathable open-spaced mesh. For this Nimbus Cloud colorway, a staple in NB’s lineup, we see cream, white, grey, and silver shades come together across the various paneling. Light grey appears on the pigskin suede panels, while the base mesh is metallic silver grey, contrasting the cream toebox and collar overlays.

Branding details, like the N logo on the midfoot and 992 text on the collar, are in a metallic silver hue, with the former trimmed in a white shade. More white lands on the lace set and the New Balance text atop the cream leather tongue. The white and cream foam midsole finishes the design with Abzorb cushioning paired with a tonal rubber outsole.
The New Balance 992 Made in USA Nimbus Cloud will release in March 2025 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $200.
