Last year, New Balance focused heavily on the 1906R model, which gained an enormous following thanks to its comfort-focused design and hit colorways. An array of collaborators helped energize the sneaker, including Japanese-based fashion brand N.Hoolywood and Invincible, who worked on the 1906U variant of the model. Now, the trio are reuniting for another 1906U colorway.
While the last pair coated the sneaker in neutral grey hues, this pair, while doing the same, differs with its orange lace. The same branding details along the mudguard, including New Balance text on the lateral side and 1906U on the medial, contrast the grey panels they sit atop with a black finish. Textural contrast is found across the paneling, with different mesh weaves, cuts of suede, and colors, making each layer appear unique.

Unlike the original, the insole does not mention the collaborators. Instead, standard branding details remain untouched, like the midfoot N logo, 1906U text on the lateral collar, and 1906 logos on the insole. Down below, the 1906U retains the same beloved cushioning setup borrowed from the 860v2, coming in a mixture of cream, grey, and military green, while the outsole below takes on a black finish.
