In 2012, Jason Petrie was in charge of designing the LeBron 10 (X), celebrating a decade long partnership between Nike and LBJ and a decade of James’ on-court dominance. Petrie wanted to honor James’ first career NBA title so he designed the silhouette to appear diamond-like with sleek cuts along the upper. In 2012, the LeBron 10 arrived as a celebration of LeBron James' historic 2012 season - capturing his first NBA championship, NBA MVP, Finals MVP, and Olympic Gold. Jason Petrie continued as the lead designer, focusing on superior performance and innovative technology. The shoe was the first Nike Basketball model to feature + Basketball technology, allowing athletes to track and analyze their game performance.
Constructed with Hyperfuse, Flywire, and a dynamic lacing system, the LeBron 10 offered unrivaled support and lockdown. It featured a 360-degree full-length Zoom Air unit - the first in the LeBron line - providing responsive cushioning and comfort.
A number of memorable colorways debuted, including the 'Crown Jewel' with its burgundy suede upper, the 'Prism' featuring a geometric design on the inner lining, and the 'Cork,' which was covered in cork material to represent LeBron's champagne celebration after winning his first NBA championship. The LeBron 10 was a milestone sneaker that both encapsulated LeBron's journey to his first championship and advanced the technological boundaries of basketball footwear.
