Nike LeBron 17 Shoes
The Nike LeBron 17 (XVII) marked the ten-model anniversary between designer Jason Petrie and LeBron James— the silhouette was sold in 2019. Instead of combining Max Air and Zoom Air units like those used on the last two models, the LeBron 17 featured Nike’s largest heel Max Air unit and two 15mm Zoom Air units in the forefoot. The LeBron 17 debuted a Knitposite fabric that utilizes the flexibility of Flyknit with the strength and durability of a Foamposite shell. Unveiled in 2019, the Nike LeBron 17 was a continuation of LeBron’s signature line, with a focus on strength and speed. Designer Jason Petrie and his team developed an all-new Knitposite upper, which combined heat-molded yarns with pre-twisted, heat-molded yarns, creating a durable and supportive structure with an artistic twist.
This shoe also featured the most Air in a LeBron shoe ever, with two independent Air Zoom Pods under the forefoot and a large Max Air unit in the heel, providing excellent responsiveness and shock absorption. The design also included a plastic clip extending from the midfoot to the heel for extra support.
Notable colorways included the 'Lakers' that celebrated LeBron's time with the Lakers and the 'Future Air' offering a glimpse into the future of Nike Air. The 'I Promise' colorway was again a salute to the LeBron James Family Foundation, showcasing bright, mismatched colors inspired by the Foundation's school in Akron, Ohio.
