Boston-based footwear label New Balance has experienced a significant surge in popularity over the past few years, boasting a remarkable 23% increase in sales in 2023. Among its standout models, the New Balance 9060 has become a fan favorite, celebrated for its blend of classic and contemporary design elements. Building on this momentum, New Balance is set to release a special edition of the 9060, paying homage to a local institution: Boston College.
Following the success of the New Balance 550 Boston College, the New Balance 9060 Boston College features a sophisticated mix of grey and white hues, accented with vibrant red hits that nod to the school's colors. The upper is crafted from premium grey suede, with the front half of the sneaker showcasing a lighter shade compared to the darker grey on the rear portion. This nuanced design adds depth and dimension to the sneaker. Complementing the suede overlays, white mesh, and dark grey nubuck are on the toe, enhancing breathability and texture.
Signature New Balance branding comes in the form of a bold red N logo on the midfoot, while the Boston College logo proudly sits atop the tongue. The insole also pays tribute to the school, featuring the word Eagles written in the distinctive Boston College font. Underfoot, the sneaker boasts a chunky foam midsole in white and cream, providing exceptional comfort and support. The look is completed with a durable grey rubber outsole, ensuring the sneaker performs as well as it looks.
The New Balance 9060 Boston College will release in 2024 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is yet to be determined.
