A fusion of two industry giants, Stone Island and New Balance, have seamlessly married their strengths since their partnership announcement in 2021. This collaboration has gifted sneakerheads and hooligans with reinterpreted classics and the birth of fresh models. Their previous joint venture with NB's Tokyo Design Studio created a brand-new FuelCell-cushioned running silhouette. Now, teasing the project on social media, Stone Island's distinctive touch merges with the DNA of New Balance to help introduce the 991v2 silhouette.
Stone Island's rendition of the new 991v2 blankets the upper in sumptuous black pigskin suede, complemented by a foundational layer of olive mesh. 3M reflective panels on the toe box enhance the visual appeal, casting a shimmering contrast. This radiant touch extends to the midfoot's iconic "N" logo. Stone Island's emblematic branding finds its place gracefully atop the tongue, while the lateral heel etches the "991" text. Distinctively, the v2 branding adorns the heel's spine, marking it as the 991's evolved sibling. Below sits a familiar sole unit, reminiscent of the 991, enveloped in all-black and interspersed with grey highlights. Completing the design, a semi-translucent grey rubber outsole reveals Stone Island's logo, subtly positioned near the toe.
The Stone Island x New Balance Made in UK 991v2 will release on October 4, 2023 via Stone Island online and in-store with a wider launch via New Balance and other retailers set for October 18, 2023. Coming in men’s sizing, the exact retail price has yet to be announced.
